Oooh. So close! Was -2 standing on #16 tee today. Lots of Ping in the bag.
Anser 10.5 set to 10, SST Pured Phenom 60 stiff set to open 10º setting
G5 15º, SST Pured Phenom 80 stiff
i20 20º, SST Pured RIP @ 85 stiff
i20 4-PW, blue dot, c-taper stiff, +1/4", 1/4 inch shorter than my other irons. Ping fitting said +1/4" and I rolled with it. Fitting said black dot, and I thought that was a bandaid for me coming over the top during my fitting. He even was thinking about red dot that day. I went blue dot, as I used to be green dot. It's like one degree up. About a degree or so flatter than I used to play. All my sets are very close in their setup, except +1/2." In other words, don't fret the details too much.

Really nice day out there today. Played well to boot! -2 34 on the front! Had good looks at bird that just didn't go in. Really hot on the front. No warm up. Jumped out of the car and went. Was still -2 through 15, and drove it well leaving 134 uphill. I hit right beside the pin and it bounded down a bank over the back. Bogey. OK. Still -1.
Par 3 17 playing 167 and slightly downhill/wind. I steered an 8 to pin high 20 ft and two putt. Still -1.
18. OK, need a good drive. 419 yards of tough finishing hole. Nice drive, just a touch right, and ends up in a nasty lie in the rough about 5 yards right of the fairway. 141 to a back pin, slightly downwind/pushing right. DEEP fescue short and water shorter front right of the green that I now need to go directly over from this side. Bunker front left.
Got crap contact out of a 9 iron and it knuckled and died into that fescue. Never found it. Too bad. Yellow Z star XV I bought from some little girls with a stand for 75 cents before the 13th tee! (13. Uggh!) I played the last holes for good luck with that XV and it had worked to that point. I dropped another ball just to give it another try and sure enough, middle of the green two putt land. Uggh! After the lost ball, I double.
Curse you, golf gods. +2 73. Tees I played are rated 73.1, so sorta par? ha!
i20's, GOOD. C-tapers work surprisingly well for me.
I don't find them all that low launch. Very stable though. Stiff flex is good enough for this old guy. My sternum has been cracking lately from a car accident injury.
Whenever I change up my bag, it seems the first round is kinda so-so, feeling them out. Then next round is usually when I play a nice one like this. I like to change up what I'm looking down at sometimes.
