Grip tape scraper .......I saw the instructions on how to build this over at FGI.com. Easy, no cost and works really well!

Several although photos might be difficult as it's still all packed away.
I worked at a machine shop for several years and had full access to materials and equipment to make just about anything I wanted.

I made a grip a vise very simple but extremely quick and effective using a straight line toggle clamp and hard rubber jaws and a 50 lb spring, it holds any shaft diameter snugly with consistent pressure, It's mounted to a 5 inch piece of angle iron so it is secured nicely in any vise. A shaft tipping jig utilizing a radial arm saw and an abrasive cutting wheel, a whole set is accurately tipped in about 1 minute. I also made a homemade puller based on a commercially available model using a 200lb die spring. Works great, load the spring then slowly heat the head until it releases on it's own. Made my own bending bar that was longer than anything else available so bending was a snap! (sometimes literally) Brass jaws bolted and spliced into 1.5" carbon steel hex stock.

Some obsolete items....
I did make a punch press many years ago back when irons had pins, not even sure where it is now. I helped make a custom spray booth and drying rack, don't need those any more. Rigged a transformer to heat screws in wood heads. Several homemade wood refinishing tools for contour sanding, grinding and buffing. More little bits and pieces I care to remember for misc little jobs.

It's a very clever device .......you put the block of wood into a vise, now put the end of the shaft into that piece hanging hanging out. It will allow you to revolve the shaft as you scrape plus you are scraping toward the end of the shaft.

Here's a picture of a ferrule tool that Neil Simpson graciously told me how to build some years ago. It's used to "tap" a ferrule into the proper position before you glue everything together.

Hell of alot easier to heat the tape with a heat gun. Then it comes right off with your fingers. The hell with scrapin' Doc, just sayin'.

For the "spray glue" that I seem to see a lot, I use heat but still scrape.

I keep saying I want to try using air .......maybe this is the year.
