Last year I thought Cabrera's litter was interesting and bet it felt nice... Looked like a normal length putter with a belly putter grip on it. Thought that would feel solid and stable. Fast forward to this years Masters. The pro at work anselms I were talking about Angel and I mentioned how I'd like to make a putter like his.

About 10 days ago I get the Taylormade daddy long legs email... Are you kidding .me?? My idea.

By the time I got the email I had picked up the winn 130 gram grip at golf galaxy and put it on my Scotty Futura putter. Holy Crap...best feeling thing I've ever tried. I tries the Taylormade one at golfsmith and it felt good...then I tried mine. All I can say is wow. I'm not ready to use it yet since our greens will be junk until June but I gave it a try in a putting green that was nice.

I have to wonder if the belly putter grip on a standard putter is like adding weight to the end. I did not care for the feel of added weight on the end of the grip, but if spread out by using a heavier grip might feel better.

The effect may be similar to using a heavier putter shaft. Nippon makes different weight putter shafts if anyone wanted to try this with a "normal" grip.

As I recall, Cabrera's was a little longer than a standard putter, maybe 37" or 38". His fellow countryman Eduardo Romero used a similar setup which he didn't anchor and probably whom he got the idea from.

I've been using one for a couple of seasons now. 37.5" with a belly putter grip. I do not anchor it. I open up my stance. One hand at the top of the grip, one hand at the bottom of the grip, and use a "sweeping" motion. It's been working well for me. DrGreen might be posting a pic for me.

My normal putter length is 32" so I added a couple inches back on to it since its supposed to be longer than your own putter by a couple inches to get it to 34" or so. I think it said 37" for people that used a 35" standard putter etc... The idea is to be gripping the putter not at the top but a couple inches down because of the backweighting.

Kan, I believe like you are saying, it feels good becasue of the weight going down the shaft.

Its not a big investment to try. I had the face balanced putter, got hold of an extension and then the 130 gram Winn is $14.99 on clearance at Golf Galaxy. I put mine away for now until the greens get better but like I said, on the nice putting green, it was incredible.

When it comes to putting, if it's legal and it works for you, go for it!
All from past and future experience.

Fast forward to almost 2015. This past year I started out with a heel shafted odessey and could make anything. Went to the Futura creation and holy crap. I had my best year ever putting, used it the whole rest of the year. I had a Scotty Newport Tei that I had put a superstroke on and never even used it. Picked up a Tei newport Longneck and never used that either. I'll start the year with something else just so I don't lose confidence in it but what I did to the Futura really worked.
