I had my 2nd round at the Castle Course this morning since getting my Link Ticket and as it wasn't raining I took my camera and snapped pictures on the way round.

The Links Trust have done a far bit of work on the course since it originally opened in 2008 as it got panned by all the Golf writers who reviewed the course. I can only imagine how tough it must have been when it first opened.

It's a tough course as with it's location sat on top of the cliffs just out of the town you'll very seldom get to play it with out a wee breeze. Today it was a strong 4-5 club wind and quite cold with the wind chill but at least the sun was shining. I'd not like to play it week in and week out in stroke play competitions but for a matchplay or stableford comp it's a great track as there are a few risk and reward holes that encourage you to be bold.

Anyway the pictures...

NICE! Although, you can't really tell that it's windy from the pictures. The flags at the end do show it, but the flag sticks at each hole are apparently the metal ones so they don't bend to show the ferocity of the wind.

You're right on the mark, the flag poles on the greens are the very thick poles that you couldn't bend if you tried...think of the butt end of a jumbo grip and that's roughly the thickness of the poles.
