and now the kids who committed to Penn State are being punished, Sandusky was an irreverent scumbag who will spend the rest of short life in prison and the administration involved lost their jobs, Paterno died, the University gets fines 60 Million. Now the NCAA put the smack down on every kid playing for Penn State now. That just doesn't seem right, these kids weren't complicit in the act or the cover up. Clean house in the Athletic department and the coaches but punishing these college football players just adds to the tragedy.

How so? Anyone that wants to stay and play for Pedo State can do so. Anyone that demands a chance to play in a bowl game is free to transfer to any school without loss of eligibility, without the need to sit out a season and without their scholarship counting against the new schools scholarship limit. The NCAA has allowed EVERY PSU player and every PSU committed incoming player to become a free agent and go anywhere they want. This is the first time I can recall the NCAA sanctioning a program without punishing the innocent players.

Yes, anyone can transfer but for borderline starters and backups it won't be easy.

And a lot of schools do not have available scholarships to offer this time of year.

Borderline starters and backups for Penn State will become borderline starters and backups for other top programs. They can easily get playing time by going to a program like Pitt or Villanova. One tiny step down from elite to near-elite is all it takes.

They don't need available scholarships. Pedo State transfers are freebies, they will not count against a schools scholarship limits. Even if a program has all 85 scholarships spoken-for they can STILL take PSU players without penalty.

Still sucks.. Many of these kids dreamed of playing for Penn State. Killing the program doesn't undo the damage, Killing the fuckers involved would be a better option.

The worst part of this whole thing is the final months Joe Paterno's life was spent in the midst of this crap.

Paterno will be remembered by one incident where he failed rather than his successes. Maybe he should have retired before he became unable/unwilling to make hard choices. I guess the inmates are singing "Hey teacher leave those kids alone" to Sandusky in jail.

Yes, a lifetime of integrity with some doubt now.

Nope, no doubt. A lifetime without any integrity at all. He will rightly be remembered as a piece of scum who was able to fool almost everyone for most of his life.

Wow Shank. Do you know something about Paterno's life that leads you to that conclusion, other that the Sandusky thing?

Isn't the Sandusky thing enough? That was the biggest most important moment of his life, the one chance to do the right thing even though it was tough. And he caved and kids suffered for it. That undoes building a football program times a thousand.

Yes, I agree. He was definitely wrong for that, but I thought that you knew something more about him other than the
Sandusky thing.
